Study Permit Extension
If you are not able to finish your studies within the stipulated mentioned on your work permit, you need to apply for an extension. An extension must be applied a minimum of 30 days before the expiry of your current study permit. You can only apply for an extension if you are enrolled at a DLI. If you apply for an extension before the expiry of your study permit, you can continue to stay in Canada and continue your studies. All the conditions that are applicable as per your study permit continue to be in effect while you are on implied status.
If you fail to apply before the expiry of your current study permit, you will need to apply for restoration of your status and extend your study permit. For your status to be restored, you must have metal the conditions listed on your permit and keep meeting all the requirements for your stay. You cannot study while you are waiting for restoration of your status.
